I'm sitting here in Mumbai, all by myself in a coffee shop!
The coffee shop where I met him for the first time. I met him with a close friend. She wanted to meet him, more than I did.
Gosh! He was terribly boring! I'm having more fun alone, now, than I did with Leslie Lewis that evening.
But I've always been one to support my friends and so I tagged along!
But this post isn't about that evening. It's about how i haven't spent enough time with myself in the last few months. It's either work, or Shippie or Shippie's family or My family or His friends or My friends.
I've finally got my moment alone and all I can think of is that one evening, a couple of weeks ago....
Mee - So where do you wanna go?
Shippie - Wherever baby... What do you want to eat?
Mee - No! I always decide... It's your day today. You tell..
Shippie - What, My day? It's OUR day.... 2 years of being engaged!
Mee - That's true! Ok cool, I have to be at Amanora in the evening, so we'll go to Mainland China, there. It's done!
Shippie - Gee! Thanks for letting me chose!
Mee - Anytime, Darrling!
Yes! I always let him chose. And hello! Do not, for a second, think, I have made this plan. I know he loves Chinese and when it's "Celebration Chinese" it's Mainland China and when it's "Craving Chinese" it's Suon Moi (friendly neighborhood "hole in the wall" joint) .
Shippie - Do you HAVE to work today?? like it's 8pm, yaar!
Mee - Arre! it's done. Now my RJ can take over. Lets go! Do you notice something?
Shippie - You got a hair cut!
He didn't even look at me, when he said it. Is that what all women are expected to have done, when asked "notice something" ?
Mee - What! No! I bought these pants!
Shippie - Oh Ya! Nice! Baby! you look so thin!
Mee grinning from ear to ear. This man will survive longer than others.
We get ushered to our table and finally sit down to have a nice quiet meal after, for what seemed like, ages!
Mee - I'm having lemon coriander soup... Crispy veg in plum sauce and I think, Im going to have Rice today (Yes! I've been on a diet and haven't had rice in 20 days)
Shippie - I'll look at the menu
Waiter (giving us our menus) - Sir, we have set meal for ICICI bank holders. 4 veg starters, 2 non veg, 1 veg soup or non veg, 6 main course, 2 rice, 2 noodles, 2 desserts for 750/- plus taxes!
Mee & Shippie smile wickedly at each other - We'll go with that!
Gosh! The only reason I'm surviving this relationship is how my man eats his food! You gotta love him, : )
Mee - Sooo... Baby!! How are you feeling, yaar?
Shippie - Baby!! Soooo nice!! Such a turn on.. so much food!!
Mee (stumped) - Oh ! Ok! Actually i was asking about us... like 2 years... ok Never Mind. How was your day?
Shippie - Not bad! We managed to sell a couple of more sandwiches than regular afternoons. Now also, when I left there was 'Gardi'. You know what? My Butter chicken sandwiches naa.. they're just class. I mean there's nothing like it in Pune... I mean, the masala, the buttery feeling in your mouth, the tender pieces of chicken.. the toasty breads... the sweetness and spiciness...
And off he goes, talking about food. I'm looking at him, watching him describe his recipes, his passion, his love for anything food, is charming.
2 years of being engaged to a guy with so much passion. 2 years of being with a guy who is so enthusiastic about something in life. 2 years of being engaged to a man who loves to make food, as much as I love to eat it!
To hell with family pressure, I'm ready to wait, for you, my love!
Shippie - Baby! Hello... ?
Mee (smiling) - I Love you!
Waiter comes in with the soup....
Shippie (smelling it) - Ohhhh.... Soup is smelling divine!
